- A third-party organization called the "Civic Progress Network" has apparently been actively contacting voters to encourage them to vote for the Manitoba Liberal Party, despite not being registered with Elections Manitoba. Notably, in some of the constituencies where their flyers have been distributed, the Conservatives would be the main beneficiary.
- Still no clarity on the killing of Sukhdool Singh Gill; while stories are still circulating about his supposed gang affiliations, all of these seem to come from Indian sources, and it's telling that the week of his death his name appeared on a wanted list circulated by a counterterrorism agency in that country. Meanwhile, the diplomatic spat continues as 41 Canadian diplomats have been asked to leave India, and the homes of several prominent Indian journalists have been raided by police.
- Opening statements have been made in Trump's civil fraud trial in New York State. Expect a long and bitter fight.
- A case in the US Supreme Court, brought forth by payday lenders, challenges the very existence of the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau, and possibly numerous other federal agencies.
- The Nobel Prize in physics has been awarded to three researchers studying the dynamics of electrons in atoms and molecules.
- Far-right Republican Matt Gaetz has filed a "motion to vacate" the office of Speaker of the House. It will now be up to the Democrats to decide whether to oppose the motion and keep Kevin McCarthy in his position.
- Chinese officials have banned the distribution of a photo of two athletes embracing after a race, apparently because one of them has the number 6 and the other a 4, thus possibly providing a way of alluding to the Tiananmen Square massacre without mentioning it by name.
